“The right book in the hands of the right person at exactly the right moment can change their life forever.”
― Libby Page, This Book Made Me Think of You

If you’re looking for a book about books, I recommend This Book Made Me Think of You by Libby Page. This heart-warming, yet gut-wrenching, novel had me crying as the main characters worked to figure out their lives while in immense grief. The author mentions eighty books throughout (don’t worry, you can find a list of said books on the author’s website – though I recommend not looking at the list until you read the book!). The main characters in this book work hard to keep the memories and legacies of their loved ones alive, but they struggle with living their own lives to the fullest. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and would love to know your thoughts!
Matilda Nightingale, known as Tilly to friends and family, lives in London working as a book editor. Her husband Joe, an American-born athletic extrovert, died five months ago from cancer. Tilly is struggling with his death and finds that she hasn’t been able to lose herself in a book since Joe’s diagnosis. Imagine her surprise when Tilly receives a call from her local bookshop informing her that there is a birthday gift from her husband waiting for her at the shop. This couldn’t possibly be true, but the shopkeeper is insistent that Tilly stop in so he can explain.
Tilly is shocked to discover that Joe’s gift is more than just the one book. He has chosen twelve books, one for each month, to help her through her first calendar year without him. As she picks up her new book every month, Tilly finds herself going on more adventures, having deep conversations with the bookstore owner Alfie, and trying new things. Joe’s books are meant to inspire her to take reading adventures all over the world and within her local community. As the year progresses, she finds herself forging new relationships. Just how much will this year of books change her life and the lives of those around her? That’s up to Tilly.
This title is also available in large print.
