EAT DESSERT FIRST!

Did you know that August is National “Eat Dessert First Month”?

National Eat Dessert First Month is a fun, tasty, and indulgent observance that encourages people to enjoy desserts as the first course. It’s not a formal holiday with official government recognition, but it’s widely recognized in food and lifestyle communities. Every August, there are 31 blissful days when you are given the green light to indulge your sweet tooth before your main meal, not after.

Each day in August is themed around daily dessert observances, each with its own unique treat beginning with national raspberry cream pie day, followed by national ice cream sandwich day, and so on. To enjoy this observation, participants can:

  • Try a new dessert each day
  • Share recipes or photos online
  • Host dessert‑themed gatherings
  • Support local bakeries and dessert makers

The month offers a creative way to explore new desserts, bond with friends and family over shared treats, and celebrate the joy of delicious indulgence in a playful, non‑restrictive way.
