a photograph of a bookshelf with text that says 'Libraries closed'

The Davenport Public Library will be closed on Thursday, April 23rd for a Staff In-Service day.

This is an opportunity for us to get more training, work on setting goals, and figure out more ways to make Davenport the best library possible. All three buildings will reopen with regular business hours on Friday, April 24th: Main (321 Main Street) 9am to 5:30pm, Eastern (6000 Eastern Avenue) 9am to 5:30pm, and Fairmount (3000 N Fairmount St) 9am to 5:30pm.

Even though our physical locations will be closed, you can still access free digital content for all ages. Your Davenport Public Library card gives you access to free eBooks, digital audiobooks, magazines, movies, and music through LibbyFreegalTumbleBooksQC Beats, and Kanopy!

As of this writing, all of these titles are owned by the Davenport Public Library. Descriptions are provided by the publishers.

  • It’s Elementary by Elise Bryant

    “You just looks so young!”

….I barely belong here at these school events, single and Black, so every time I hear this, it’s like they’re confirming that, too. It makes me want to roll out my whole resume to justify my place, Like, I have a master’s degree from UCLA, lady! I was eight month’s pregnant with Pearl at the ceremony, but still! I’m grown, just like you! I use Sensodyne, and I have enough white hairs that I can’t keep casually plucking them without looking like a “before” in one of those women’s hair loss Instagram ads I keep getting, and I am pretty sure my back hurts more than it doesn’t hurt now, and I’m wearing Old Navy Pixie pants. There is nothing more grown than Old Navy Pixie pants!”
