I love a good sleuth, more specifically, I love a good woman sleuth. These iconic independent investigators have been taking over the publishing world for the last couple of years. While they may use a weapon or physical strength to solve crimes, they are more likely to use their expertise in a specific area, their intelligence, or their understanding of humans to figure out the solution. Queer Cozy Mysteries
When I’m looking for a relaxing mystery read, I turn toward cozy mysteries. These mysteries do not have gratuitous sex or violence (the murders happen off the page). One of my favorite types of cozy mysteries are queer cozy mysteries that feature an LGBTQ cast of characters. As of this writing, all of these titles are owned by the Davenport Public Library. The Dogwalkers’ Detective Agency by Michael Hogan
The Dogwalkers’ Detective Agency by Michael Hogan was a delight, mostly because of all the adorable dogs! The Dogwalkers’ Detective Agency is a long cozy mystery full of quite short chapters which helps the book move at a nice pace. With different types of dogs and their busybody owners, this novel was a delight. If you’re looking for a debut full of mystery and murder, give this book a try!
