It’s never too late to find love in The Bookstore Diaries by Susan Mallery. Jax runs the Painted Lady Bookstore, while her sister Ryleigh works as a school teacher in the same town. Recently divorced Jax is struggling to work through her new family dynamic. She and her ex-husband have a unique custody arrangement where the kids stay in the house and the parents rotate out of the house every week. When Jax’s ex-husband wants to alter their custody plan, she is thrown for a loop.

Flash to Ryleigh. On vacation with her boyfriend, Ryleigh has high hopes that he will propose. When he doesn’t, Ryleigh finds herself in a crisis. Determined to shake up her life, Ryleigh decides to move away to find herself. Jax wants to convince Ryleigh to stay. She decides that she will find Ryleigh a new love (and therefore a new reason to stay). The handsome contractor working on the bookstore seems like the perfect match for Ryleigh.

When an accident during construction erases the names from the bookstore lockboxes that hold the local diaries, Jax and her employees must find a way to reunite the diaries with their owners. Life at the Painted Lady Bookstore gets more and more chaotic as secrets and scandals are revealed.
